What does it mean to live yoga?

Does it mean practicing yoga every day? Meditating every day? Being vegetarian or vegan? Being able to do a headstand or a handstand? Knowing Sanskrit?

The answer is no. Let us explain.

In Sanskrit, the word yoga is often translated as “union.” But union of what, with what?

Yoga can be understood in different ways and on different levels. It can be the connection between mind and body, body and breath—or on a more spiritual level, the experience of connecting with something greater than ourselves.

The truth is, each of us has our own experience of yoga and our own way of living it. And that way can change as we move through life.

When we're navigating young adulthood and figuring out who we are and where we want to go, living yoga might mean connecting with our bodies, finding tools to navigate anxiety and stress, discovering meaningful work, or building relationships that feel right for the chapter we're in.

As life grows and changes, perhaps we're raising children and caring for a family. Living yoga might look like finding patience on the busiest days, making time for ourselves, or simply being more present with our children and the people we love.

And as we continue moving through life, with more experiences behind us and still so much ahead, yoga continues to evolve with us. It might mean reconnecting with ourselves, feeling more whole, appreciating the people we've become, or finding greater joy in the lives we're living.

Because at every stage of life, yoga can meet us where we are. It can mean finding community, expressing ourselves, deepening our connection with others, and discovering new ways to live more fully.

There is no single right way to live yoga. You will discover your own way. A way that feels freeing and joyful. A way that lights up your heart and brings you closer to yourself.
